Unit 2 My favourite season.
(Part A Let’s learn and Let’s try)

Good morning, ladies and gentlemen! My name is Li Qian. It is really my great honor to have this opportunity to be here to share my teaching ideas with you. Today, my teaching topic is the first part of unit 2,PEP primary English Book VI. My teaching presentation includes seven parts.
First, the analysis of teaching material
(一) Status and function Unit 2, Book VI, the topic is“ My favourite season”. It is talking about sb’s favourite
season. Students have learned the old target language “ What’s your favourite food ?” before, and we will learn the new target language by talking about seasons. The content of the lesson is related closely to students' actual life and cause students to use simple English to communicate and exchange the message. (二)Teaching aims 1. Knowledge aims: Word: Enable students to master the new words: season, spring, summer, fall, winter. Target language:What’s your favourite season? 2. Ability aims: ? Improve students’ listening and speaking abilities. ?Cultivate students’ ability of using the new target language patterns. 3. Emotion aims: Help students form a good sense of cooperation and know the importance of teamwork. (三) Focal points and difficult points Focal points : 1. Word learning: season, spring, summer, fall, winter. 2. Patterns learning: What’s your favourite season? Difficult points: Make students master the new target languages correctly.
Second, the analysis of students
The primary school student's thinking ability of the image is strong, and their attention can be scattered easily.
Students in Grade Five have been studying English for more than two years. Most students keep a strong interest in English study. But they still have some difficulties in expressing themselves in English.
Third, the teaching methods
According to English Curriculum Standard, we should create a real language environment based on the experience students had. So I will use task-based teaching method and communication teaching method in my class. And I’ll make the best use of the multimedia

assisting, tape recorder and some pictures.
Fourth, the learning methods
English course standard aims to train students’ interest of learning English and develop their ability of learning independently and the spirit of cooperation.
I will divide students into several groups among the activity and let them cooperate to finish classroom task .
Fifth, teaching procedures
Step1: Warming up
Listen to an English song If you are happy. Ask students to do some actions while singing this song. (It aims to create a relaxing and happy study atmosphere.)
Step2: Presentation
(1) Free talk I will ask students the following question:What’s your favourite food?
(It aims to make students review the old target language they have learned.) (2) Present some pictures
?Introduce briefly to present the new words in this period by the pictures. ?Ask students some questions about the pictures by using the new target languages. (It aims to help students learn new words and the new target language.)
Step3: Practice
Pair work: Ask students to make dialogues in pairs about the pictures on the screen according to the
sentence patterns. Then I will get several pairs to act out their dialogues . (The activity is used for strengthening students’ expressing ability.)
Step4: Consolidation
Listening practice (Let’s try) Play the tape twice for students to listen and then get them to write down the answers.
(The purpose is to let students catch keywords while listening to the tape.)
Step5: Project
(1)Interview: Students’ favourite season survey I will divide the whole class into several groups .Get students make a survey about what their
favourite season is, and then fill in the form below:

When surveying, they can use the following sentence patterns: What’s your favourite season?
(2) Make a report After finishing the survey, I will ask a student from each group to make a report about the
result of its group and see which group did the best, and then give them some gifts. (It lays emphasis on training students' listening, speaking and writing abilities.)
(3) Homework Ask students to summarize the new words and the usage of the new target language of this
lesson. (It aims to consolidate the key points we learned in this period.)

Seventh, teaching reflection
This topic is closely related to the students’daily life. I assign some different tasks to make students master the usage of the new sentence patterns . Various activities will cultivate students’ listening, speaking,reading and writing abilities. What’s more, it cultivates students’ sense of cooperation and improves their ability for language using.
